These shots are from the first series in Encino with two of my dearest friends. We shot just before sunset along Ventura BLVD. It was so fun! It was my first time to that area, at least from what I can remember. So it was exciting to be somewhere new-exploring!
While on vacation we took a small detour to Encino in order to visit some of my closest friends who moved away, and left us in Vegas (insert sobbing here) haha but no really. I miss them everyday. It's like a traditon for us to shoot when we're together for two reasons
1. They're both models
2. I'm working on be a better photographer every chance I get
So this time around we just walked around our hotel and the convenient Trader Joe's next door as the sun was setting...aka the golden hour. It was fun, so much fun that my daughter hopped in for some photos too.
I have another round of photos from this session coming soon!
It was so nice being on vacation last month in California. We had no time restraints that would have us coming home on any schedule. We simply extended our stay a couple of nights, and left when we felt like our trip served its purpose. Oh, yeah and we got up before sunrise the day we headed home...I mean like at 3 am for whatever reason haha. So we made the best of it and drove to Lake Casitas, then back to the beach as the sun was coming up several hours later! It was so worth it :D
I've been obsessed lately with all of my latest photo shoots with all my clients. I think simply because I've found my love again for taking portraits. I lost my passion for photography there for a while, but I forced myself to continue taking pictures. I guess I knew deep down that I would jump into it again, it was just a matter of time.
This series of photos are of a dear friend of mine from Germany. I don't see her or her sister often which makes me so sad, because I do consider them some of the best people I know. So we always try to make time for a photo shoot for traditions sake, and these are just a few of many that I love.
The last several days were spent in Carpinteria, CA with Stan's family. It was much needed for all of us, and it was a blast. We spent our first day traveling to Encino to visit two of my best friends. They are "auntie's" to Emma, and I couldn't be more grateful. They spoil her with giant minion stuffed animals and Anna/Elsa pillows :D So if that's not love I don't know what is haha. && they also are my models everytime we're together, and they let me "shoot" them, so it's kind of become our thing. (Those pics are soon to come)
The next several days we spent with Stan's family in Carpinteria at the cutest beach house I've ever seen (pictured above.) Ours had a hidden staircase that pulled down from the ceiling, and led to a giant loft, and a retro kitchen that was to die for. We ended up extending our stay there an extra night, because it was so lovely and convenient being so close to family. (literally, like next door :D) They also had bikes to borrow so we could sightsee in Cali style. It makes me wish we could do more of that sort of thing here in Vegas. My sister in law and I even got to sneak away from everyone to go do some shopping one of those days, and it was great. We hit all of the boutiques in downtown Carpinteria, along with a retro thrift shop for some books. It was much needed.
The whole trip was awesome, just plain awesome. We had been planning it for months, and before we knew it, it was here and now it's gone. But our memories will last a lifetime.
